The Vodafone Rally de Portugal saw the start of Elfyn Evans’ 2013 WRC campaign and a stunning performance from the 24 year old resulted in a string of fastest stage times in the WRC-2 category. Any hope of a good result evaporated on the second day, when transmission failure sidelined Elfyn’s Ford Fiesta RRC, but the Welshman was able to complete the rally to both demonstrate his undoubted potential and gain valuable experience.
M-Sport have announced that the 2012 FIA WRC Academy Winner, Elfyn Evans, will become part of the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team when he claims the sought-after prize for winning the series next month.
The first rally of the 2013 season came to a frustrating end for Elfyn Evans when he slid off the road and retired on the National Capital Rally – the opening round of the Australian Rally Championship. Competing alongside new co-driver Daniel Barritt for the first time, Elfyn had set the second-fastest time on the rally’s opening stage and looked set for an impressive performance until the slippery conditions caught him out on stage 2.
To mark the first anniversary of Innate Motorsport's entry into the Australian Rally Championship (ARC), FIA WRC Academy Champion, Elfyn Evans will drive a second Ford Fiesta R2 for the team in the opening round of the 2013 ARC, the National Capital Rally to be held in Canberra from 1 – 3 March. The deal has been put together by RSPORT Motorsport, the Australian importer of the exciting Ford Fiesta R2.
