Elfyn back on the podium in WRC Estonia

Evans puts in strong display to finish runner-up in Toyota Gazoo 1-2.

Elfyn scored his second consecutive podium after a flat-out fight on the high-speed roads of Rally Estonia saw him finish runner-up and help secure another dominant 1-2 finish for Toyota Gazoo Racing.

His challenge started strongly with five fastest stage times in a row on the first main day as he opened up a lead of 19.9 seconds. But heavy rain on the final stage of the day, which championship rival Rovanperra managed to avoid, hampered Elfyn’s challenge and he had to slow his charge to deal with the tricky conditions.

The pair continued to trade times during the remainder of the weekend, with the gap extending slightly as Elfyn was a little too cautious when localised torrential rain hit the stages.

His second place, along with four additional points from the Power Stage, moves him up to third in the championship as the series heads to another fast gravel event at Rally Finland from 4-7 August.
