Despite being locked in an intense podium battle for most of the high-speed Rally Finland, Elfyn finished fourth after damaged suspension on day three dropped him out of contention. His challenge had started well on the flat-out Finnish forests and although admitting the feeling was not 100% perfect, he delivered a sweep of top times and took a stage win as the set-up improved.
But it was the penultimate stage on Saturday which saw his GR Yaris pick up suspension damage, forcing Elfyn and co-driver Scott Martin to make running roadside repairs.
While they dropped time completing the last stage, they did make it back to service without dropping a position, but the podium fight was over.
Fourth place and three extra Power Stage points were secured helping strengthen their championship challenge.
