Excellent drive sees Welshman finish in WRC top three for the first time this season.
A fast and consistent drive from start to finish saw Elfyn score his first podium of the 2023 season at Rally Mexico, finishing in third place after a thrilling final day battle saw him miss second by just 0.4 seconds.
Elfyn celebrated a strong weekend overall and was always in podium contention from the very first day. Benefitting from a much better feeling with his Toyota GR Yaris hybrid rally car on gravel, he delivered a solid drive and set a string of top times over the weekend.
He held second place during Saturday and Sunday but a damaged suspension arm during the first stage on Sunday morning meant he couldn’t push to the maximum on some of the rougher sections and slowly dropped time to a chasing Thierry Neuville. The battle went right down to the final Power Stage where Elfyn was edged out of second by just 0.4 seconds.
However, the weekend marked his best result this season and help contribute to a double podium for the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC team.
