Elfyn puts in strong drive in WRC round 3 after punctures hamper opening stages
After a slow start to the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship, Elfyn overcame two time-consuming punctures on the first loop of Croatia Rally to finish fifth overall.
Round three of the season was blighted with wet weather and fog-covered stages, making the low-grip Croatian asphalt roads even trickier than normal. Elfyn picked up a puncture on the very first stage and got another on stage four, leaving him over four minutes behind the leader after just the first loop of competition.
With large gaps to the cars ahead and no-one to battle with, he focused on getting through the event with no further problems, setting two fastest stage times along the way. Fifth place overall, along with three additional Power Stage points, saw Elfyn boost his championship haul considering his first loop problems.
The series switches surface with the first gravel event of 2022 up next, Rally Portugal will take place from 19-22 May.
