Stunning victory as Elfyn closes title gap

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

Win in Portugal moves Welshman up the WRC table.

Elfyn scored his fourth career WRC win as he and Scott Martin took victory on Rally de Portugal by 28.3 seconds.

They delivered a solid and error-free display all weekend to set a series of top times and edged out their closest challenger Dani Sordo with a blistering run on the final day’s opening stage.

Based in Porto, Rally de Portugal was the first gravel event of the season, and the first time Scott and driver Elfyn used Pirelli’s loose surface tyre on their Toyota Yaris WRC rally car.

Battling running order on the first day and dominating the time sheets on the final day, which ended with the iconic Fafe stage, the results sees them close the gap to championship leader and team-mate Seb Ogier to just two points.
