Tough times in Greece but Elfyn remains second

Brave fightback after mechanical problems left him down in 16th place.

Despite a tough weekend on the legendary Acropolis Rally in Greece, Elfyn bounced back to secure enough points to strengthen his second place in the WRC championship race.

Starting strongly with a second fastest time on the opening stage in Athens, Elfyn’s challenge was thwarted with a gear-related issue on the way to stage three on Friday morning. With no mid-day service, he had to struggle through the remainder of the day with limited gears and dropped back to 16th overall.

However, he restarted on Saturday with the aim of climbing back into the top-10 and, after a strong performance over the final two days, managed to get back to an incredible sixth position to secure a strong haul of points.

That was helped with an additional four points from second place on the Power Stage, helping the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC Team claim a 1-2-3 on the test. Elfyn remains second overall in the title race with three events remaining.
